JuTian Eco-Material Co., Ltd. The sugarcane straw was awarded a gold medal in Concours Lépine Méditerranéen Montpellier 2018. In 2019, it awarded another gold medal with coffee grounds straw and lid, and in June, the sugarcane straw was awarded a unique Green Mark in Taiwan. After plastic straws were banned on July 1, sugarcane straws, which are made of natural materials and are not easily softened, became the first choice of many people.

A team of young people, led by Chien-Chung Huang, founded JuTian Cleantech Co., Ltd. and launched the brand “100% ZHI (/Plant/)” at Central Taiwan Innovation Campus, MOEA in Zhongxing New Village to conduct R&D of plant fibers. In 2018, the straw made from bagasse was awarded a gold medal in Concours Lépine Méditerranéen Montpellier.

Chien-Chung Huang applied for biodegradation testing from international testing institutions before participating in the 2018 exhibition, and then applied for the logo and certification from Taiwan and Germany. At the end of June 2019, it finally received Taiwan’s Green Mark and is the only sugarcane straw that has the decomposable green mark. Starting from July, the straw can be used in European plastic ban countries and Taiwan. In addition, the sugarcane straw has been certified by DIN CERTCO in Germany.

Chien-Chung Huang led a team of young people to found JuTian Eco-Material Co., Ltd. and launched the brand “100% ZHI (/Plant/)” , the sugarcane straw is one of the works.

The “100% ZHI (/Plant/)” team was awarded a gold medal in Concours Lépine International Paris by using the technology of reusing agricultural waste materials to make coffee grounds straw and lid. The French city government of Lyon invited to set up a company. Farmers and manufacturers in Taiwan and abroad have also asked for assistance in reusing these waste materials, including: rice husks, tea residues, grape pomace, residue of citronella after the production of essential oil, Hinoki wood chips, etc.

Chien-Chung Huang said, “100% ZHI (/Plant/)” has developed and started producing rice husk straws and green tea straws, and has also accepted requests from French wineries and farmers to develop products such as grape pomace desks and chairs, using Taiwanese grape pomace as materials for R&D in recent months, is also about to complete the development.

He mentioned that according to data, Taiwan can produce 3 million tons of rice husks every year, if reuse can reduce the amount of waste, the use of rice husks will keep increasing in the future if the order quantity increases.
Sugarcane straws have been sold to many countries, including: Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Franch, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, Dubai, Mauritius, Myanmar, Vietnam, Philippines, etc.

On July 1, the policy of “single-use plastic straws are prohibited” was launched. The common paper straws on the market are easy to soften and have a slight odor after 10-20 minutes of use, which is inconvenient when drinking drinks containing pearls and must be discarded after 1-2 uses; stainless steel straws are not easy to clean and easily hide dirt; glass straws are fragile and not easy to keep. Sugarcane straws are much more durable than paper straws, can be reused in small amounts after cleaning, have no odor, and emit a sweet scent, making them a popular straw product.
